Uh, okay, I’ll bite, Right4U. How would you feel if we were filling the Teabag gatherings with federal agents, you know, just to keep tabs on ‘em. Maybe track every gun owner, everywhere. Maybe track everyone who attends the wrong church, hmmm?

I notice you expected that “you libs” have to give up some privacy and that you might have to give up some “minor civil rights”. What about your privacy, or what I consider minor rights. (by the who, I don’t consider any of my civil rights as minor, just as I consider my privacy to be more than “just another word for nothing left to lose”.)

The Teabag crowd, and for that matter todays conservatives, bleat about how we have to reclaim the Constitution; yet in the next breath your fellow travelers insist that some rights are passe. You can’t have it both ways, and no, YOU do not get to define the framers intent, just as I don’t get to either. The words are plain enough.

Why don’t you libs understand that you have to sacrifice some things in order to have good security? I WANT my government to protect me, and if that means giving up some minor civil rights, so be it. The government should be able to watch whoever they think needs watching in the name of national security. If that means you libs have to give up some privacy, so be it!!!

Howie, I’ve assumed the government has been doing this all along!!! To take it one point further, I’ve refused to buy a car with a built in GPS system (primarily GM models) for that reason. You know what happened with the telecom companies; who’s to say the car companies aren’t in cahoots with big brother too??

Here’s another first – I disagree with you Howie. If the community center was there already – would you advocate that it be torn down? Of course not. Two blocks is a huge distance in NYC – its not that the mosque will be overlooking the site or that that it would be visible from the buildings to be built (if ever) (not that that would make a difference to me) but that the pain and sensibilities of the families would be spared by the relative invisibility of the offending structure. Its not that there is a plethora of land on which to build in NYC either – that’s why the site they picked has nothing to do with 9/11. I have every sympathy for all of us – we all lost on that terrible day – I’ll bet that there were Muslims-Americans who died in the towers, too (not the ones on the planes).

Howie, all of the pundits who cry the Progressives are coming (etc) were here in full voice in ’08, and the people in this country (most of the voters that is) still found a way to elect Obama. Maybe those people will show up again in November and keep the keys away from the republicans.

Sorry Fred but McCrystal is not irreplaceable – and Petraeus has certainly proven his worth. The question is can any Commander-in-Chief permit this kind of PRINTED disrespect to go with impunity. While I hope that McCrystal’s departure does not lead to his becoming a poster boy for the far right fringe, I think that Obama did the only thing he could.

Fired the wrong person. Obama should have fired himself for jeopardizing American lives. Can’t top Chris Dodd on 2-5% down to purchase house….That wouldn’t be fair because then the only people that could buy a house are the ones that can afford it. Can I get a tool-time huuuuugh? “
